By GolfWidow, The Coolest of the Cool
Note from Rachelskirts: Some of you may remember that I told you to go donate to GolfWidow. Her job recently kicked her to the curb, and she's graciously offering to write guest posts in return for a $2 donation. (I wish she'd let people pay her more, since she's an excellent writer. And a published author!) Anyway, here's what I received via email this morning, which clearly is worth way more than $2. I mean, just think of what McDonald's gives you for that price.
Ah, a guest post.
Rachel said she'd be honored with just one sentence, but I think that's a bit silly, even for her, and we're talking about someone who once deliberately timed her posts to shape a letter J on a blogging calendar.
The J, incidentally, stands for "Just That Silly." You can thank me later.
I'm somewhat disturbed, because for a while there, Rachel was Harrypottering all over the place, and every time I cruised in, I would get the song from Potter Puppet Pals stuck in my head. "Snape, Snape. Severus Snape." ("DUMBLEDORE!")
I'm sure you've seen it. The one with the "mysterious ticking noise."
This one:
Yeah.
Anyway, now that she's all sock monkey, I've got Peter Gabriel stuck in my head instead.
Oh, it's fun being me.
Embarrassing Skirts Trivia, Vol. Two
I was a huge science fair geek. Unintentionally. Really, I just went to a small school and was the biggest perfectionist. I only won every year because not many people actually tried. Enough talking. Behold the horrors . . .

Yup. That would be me. In sixth grade. At the regional science fair. Unfortunately, I was not rocking Princess Leia hair in this particular picture. I had another contest after the science fair which required dressing up in cultural garbs and sharing tidbits about your family's history. My family is Scandinavian, so I was going for the Swedish braided hair look.
Sadly, the actual costume came later, and I don't have any photographic evidence. The outfit I'm wearing here was honestly something I would've worn on almost any other day of the week. Lavender top tucked in to a lavender flowered skirt, accompanied by a colorless thrift store jacket.
Where were Stacy and Clinton when I needed them??
Anyway, to this day, I still buy the brand of glass cleaner that worked the best in my science fair experiment.

P.S. You still have until 12:01 p.m. (CST) to vote for the name of my sock monkey! This is crucial to world peace, you know!
P.P.S. Oh right. Embarrassing Skirts Trivia, Vol. One, in case you missed it.
My Very First Photograph

I unearthed a whole bunch of pictures that I took when I was five years old. I had this very tiny camera that came with a children's book about photography. I'm fairly certain I did not actually read the book, as I was way too fascinated with running about the backyard and capturing every blade of grass on film. Much like how I am with a camera now.
In other news, polka dots need to make a comeback.
P.S. Looking to help me name my sock monkey? Vote now! There's an official poll and everything.
